The Tupelov Tu-144, lovingly known as "The Koncordski" in aviation circles was the Russian manufacturer Tupelov's attempt to make a supersonic plane better than the Concorde. The distinct winglets at the front of the fuselage are one feature that made this plane (supposedly) better than the Concorde; they allow the plane to have a low minimum cruising speed. The plane gained notoriety when it crashed during a demonstration at the Paris air show. This specific-example of the quickly discontinued plane remains in the airfield 24/7/365.
